Environmental Impact Assessment
Archaeology
The main objectives of the archaeological assessment is to gain information about the known or potential archaeological remains within the given area.
Several features of archaeological interest were found on the site. These included remains of a medieval settlement at Petsoe Manor Farm, ridge and furrow features, roman pottery shards and the buried remains of Ekney church. Many of the archaeological features are no longer visible, but evidence of them exists in landforms and on historical maps.
Following the advice of Archaeologists, access tracks and turbines were located to avoid areas of archaeological interest.
Overall, the studies demonstrated that the major construction works would be located in areas with no known archaeological remains, and with proper mitigation, such as preparing a Council approved Schedule of Archaeological Resource Management, there is unlikely to be a significant impact on either existing or undiscovered archaeological remains.
