Wind Farm Experiences
The best way to answer your questions about wind power is to visit one for yourself. We encourage everyone to visit a working wind farm, and have organised for local residents to visit our operational wind farm in Kettering, Northamptonshire in the past. If you would like to be informed of the next visit, register here to receive updates.

Burton Wold Wind Farm
We are proud to have developed, constructed and now operate Burton Wold Wind Farm near Burton Latimer in Northamptonshire. Burton Wold Wind Farm consists of 10 turbines, 100 metres tall.

Community Fund
We have pledged approximately £290,000 over the life of the wind farm towards energy efficiency and education projects in the community. The first group to receive funding was a sheltered housing unit to install solar panels. For the next project, the community are working on an information point to inform residents and visitors alike about the wind farm and energy efficiency. They are also planning on providing grants/interest free loans to residents to undertake their own energy efficiency projects. It is our policy to establish community benefit schemes within the areas where our wind farms are located. Funds will be set aside for worthwhile community projects, particularly those relating to energy efficiency and education, in the local community.
Amongst the best projects for 2007
The wind farm made the shortlist from over 30 nominations to be recognised as an outstanding renewable energy development by the Renewable Energy Association. We are proud to have developed Northamptonshire’s first wind farm, and have made the shortlist amongst all types of renewable projects in the UK. The Judges noted the huge level of local support for the wind farm during their decision making.
Community Involvement
Since March 2006, Burton Wold Wind Farm has hosted visits to over 400 children from local primary schools and the Your Energy team have participated in a local primary school environment conference. Tours of the wind farm have educated over 200 people about how wind power works.
